I just had an odd memory pop into my head. I just vaugly remember a couple that lived up the road from us when i was small (before school age.
We called them Miss Pearl and Uncle Joe (but he wasn't). I don't know what made me think of this but I remember some evenings they would walk down the road and sitt with my folks out under the big Locust tree in our front yard and Miss Pearl would bring popcorn balls wrapped in a dish towel, and my mom would pour everyone a big glass of iced tea and we would sit and eat them as the lightin' bugs flew around us

I Remember when it was decided that the town I used to live in was gonna get a radio station, It was about 1964.
It was located on what we refered to as Doc Mitchels hill, West of Mcleansboro. It was given the call letters WMCL-AM 1060 on your radio dial. It was cool to hear local news that was really local and they played Country music so it was played in our house a lot. I could never understand why it was only given a license to broadcast from 6:00am to 6:00pm

don't even get me started on radio shows...I listened to "intersanctum" ( I think that is how you spell it)...it started out with a squeeking door. We were riveted to the radio. Amos and Andy...wow...you had to use your imagination back then.
